The technology works by generating chlorine gas from sodium chloride (NaCl) through electrolysis instead of using chemicals. The reaction between water and chlorine gas produces free active chlorine, in the form of hypochlorous acid (HClO), which disinfects the water. In practice, you simply need to add regular table salt to the pool water (creating a diluted saline solution), and the device takes care of the rest.
